Product catalog summary
Overview: The document discusses the Volvo Penta EVC System, focusing on its low-speed control capabilities that enhance safety and maneuverability in tight spaces such as marinas. The system allows for full control at reduced speeds, making it ideal for docking and navigating inland waterways.
Low Speed Mode: This feature is available for diesel engines with Volvo Penta IPS and D4, D6, D9, D11, and D12 inboard shaft installations. It enables control from near standstill to full speed using a single lever. The initial 12 degrees of lever movement keeps the engine at idle, reducing speed through transmission slip, which ranges from 50% to full engagement. Further lever movement fully engages the gearbox, allowing speed control via engine RPM.
Adjustability: The system's clutch control angles and slip reduction can be adjusted between 25% and 75% using a Vodia tool, enhancing maneuverability.
EVC Accessories: These accessories simplify boating and are environmentally friendly. They include plug-in instruments, active monitoring, troubleshooting, and engine data integration into chart plotters. The system allows for future upgrades and is easy to install in boats equipped with Volvo Penta EVC.
Performance: All EVC accessories are developed and serviced by Volvo Penta, ensuring compatibility and optimal performance with Volvo Penta engines.
Features: Key features include improved safety through low-speed control, a 50% reduction in idling speed, enhanced docking maneuverability, and integration with EVC Cruise Control.
EVC System: The Electronic Vessel Control (EVC) is Volvo Penta's electronic platform based on CAN-bus technology, providing total integration and reducing wiring needs. It offers improved functionality, safety, comfort, and driving economy.

Low Speed mode With the low-speed mode for diesel Volvo Penta IPS and D4, D6, D9, D11 and D12 inboard shaft installation you can control your boat from almost standstill up to full speed with the same lever. This will help you during docking, when you are trying to catch the big fish or when you are driving in inland waterways. With this function you control the boat’s speed with the throttle/gear lever. In the first 12 degrees of the lever movement after engaging the gear, the engine will remain at idle and the boat’s speed is reduced by a slip in the transmission. The slip is from 50% to full engagement and when you push the lever further, the gearbox is fully engaged. The throttle is increased and you can control the speed with the engine rpm.
