Active Corrosion Protection

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The document discusses the Active Corrosion Protection (ACP) system designed for Volvo Penta IPS installations, offering efficient corrosion protection without the need for sacrificial anodes.
Specifications
The ACP system can protect up to four drives with a single transom unit, reducing the number of units needed compared to traditional sacrificial anode systems.
Functionality
The ACP system is user-friendly, with a control unit that automatically selects the optimal protection mechanism. It employs a triple redundant protection mechanism, ensuring reliable protection through precision control of impressed direct current via platinum-coated titanium anodes. If battery voltage drops below 75%, the system switches to controlled anode protection, and if it falls below 50%, the system holds, allowing the anode to protect the IPS drive like traditional sacrificial anodes.
Integration with EVC System
The ACP is integrated into the Volvo Penta EVC (Electronic Vessel Control) system, allowing easy monitoring of corrosion protection status via the EVC display. The EVC system uses CAN-bus technology for total integration, reducing wiring and enhancing reliability.
EVC Accessories
Volvo Penta offers smart accessories for enhanced boating experience, including plug-in instruments, active monitoring, troubleshooting, and engine data integration into chart plotters. These accessories are designed to be easily installed and are fully compatible with Volvo Penta engines.
Conclusion
The ACP system, as part of the Volvo Penta EVC platform, provides world-class performance, safety, and convenience, ensuring peace of mind for boat owners.

Active Corrosion Protection-1

VOLVO PENTA EVC SYSTEM Active Corrosion Protection Designed to match Volvo Penta IPS installations No more worry about sacrificial anodes The Active Corrosion Protection (ACP) system offers highly efficient corrosion protection for Volvo Penta IPS installations. As a boat owner, you need not worry about insufficient protection or frequent maintenance of sacrificial anodes. Enjoy boating with peace of mind. All Volvo Penta IPS installations Up to four drives – can be protected by one ACP transom unit. This means less units mounted on the transom c ompared to conventional sacrificial anode protection. Easy to use The ACP system is easy to use; the control unit automatically chooses the most suitable protection mechanism and requires no interaction with the driver. How does it work? By using a triple redundant protection mechanism, where the ACP system automatically chooses the most suitable protection mode, it always offers reliable protection. Normal protection is precision control of impressed direct current through platinum-coated titanium anodes. If battery voltage is low (less than 75% loaded), the system will switch to controlled anode protection, instead of impressed direct current. Should the battery voltage be very low (less than 50% loaded), the system will be put on hold, and the anode will protect the IPS drive just like today’s sacrificial anodes. Since the ACP is a fully integrated part of the EVC system, the corrosion protection status can easily be obtained via the EVC display. EVC Accessories Smart accessories that make boating simpler and more environmentally f riendly. Plug-in installation of instruments, active monitoring and troubleshooting, engine data in the chart plotter and the ability to upgrade the boat’s functions at a later date. It’s quick and easy to install Volvo Penta EVC Acces- sories in a boat equipped with Volvo Penta EVC. These are some of the options available with Volvo Penta’s electronic platform, EVC World-class performance All Volvo Penta EVC Accessories is developed, designed & serviced by Volvo Penta. This means that it’s function is perfectly matched with your Volvo Penta engine. Find out more about EVC ccessories on our A website.

Active Corrosion Protection-2

Active Corrosion Protection for Volvo Penta IPS Volvo Penta EVC System EVC – Electronic Vessel Control – is Volvo Penta’s common electronic platform. Based on the same CAN-bus technology used in ships, planes and cars, EVC gives total integration. All information is distributed on one CAN-bus backbone. This radically reduces the amount of wiring and connectors required, leading to much higher reliability and easier installation.
