The sledge is lowered to water, ensuring correct placement when reaching the water. The sledge sinks, pulling the quick release and activating inflation of liferafts 1 and 3 (liferaft 2 is a "sleeping" liferaft). Liferafts are released from the sledge via a release mechanism.
