The VEMS is designed to provide rapid and controlled descent into the liferaft. VIKING Evacuation MiniSlide The VIKING Evacuation MiniSlide, or VEMS, is designed specifically for vessels with low embarkation deck heights. The VEMS is designed for vessels operating in any sea condition. It is available with either a 101 person open reversible liferaft for vessels operating in sheltered waters or a SOLAS compliant 101 person selfrighting canopied liferaft for vessels operating in open seas.

Additional liferafts of various sizes can be incorporated into the system to suit individual vessel requirements. The VEMS is also available in a non-SOLAS version with open liferafts. Proven and trusted design Adaptable capacity The flexible design is based on experience gained from over 20 years of manufacturing full size slide based systems. Additional liferafts can be installed along with the system to increase evacuation capacity to suit any vessel requirements. VEMS launch sequence The liferaft and slide are deployed simultaneously Deployment is started by activating the system manually or by remote release. The container falls into the water and is bowsed in alongside while the liferaft and slide are inflating. Once hooked into position at the embarkation point, the system is ready for evacuation - all in less than 2 minutes. Deploy the VEMS by remote or manual release. Proven design taken one step forward This new design is based on experience gained from years of slide and minislide production and testing. A special patented brake cushion ensures a safe stop at the interface between slide and liferaft. The slide has high sides for increased evacuee safety. Deployment The high capacity 153 person VELS liferaft is manually or remote released from the stowage rack and bowsed into position alongside the vessel using the single bowsing winch system.
