The VEMC design is based on the effective design of the full size VIKING Evacuation Chute (VEC). It is lightweight compact, and fully contained in the stowage unit for installation almost anywhere on board. Special features The system is self-contained and compact, which means that it can be installed anywhere onboard; on open deck, between decks in an open recess with a float free unit above the system. Installation heights are from 5 to 20m above waterline calculated from lightest sea condition to installation deck. Here are some examples of how they can be installed. ”Left hand” installation, inflated ”Right hand” installation, inflated VEMC system with SOLAS A, B or special Navy emergency pack. Liferaft capacities: 101/153 people. Evacuation capacity: 582 people in 30 minutes.

The liferaft automatically inflates The container falls into the water and pulls the chute from its stowed position. The inflated liferaft pulls the chute into position automatically ready for boarding. The system is activated by pulling on the slip hook. The liferaft container falls into the water, pulling the pre-attached chute into position. The liferaft inflates automatically, pulling the chute into place ready for evacuation.
Open the catalog to page 13Bowsing winches Bowsing winches are used to bowse the liferafts into position in relation to the ship’s side The winch and bowsing line ensure that the liferaft remains stable alongside the ship and is not moved out of position by the movement of the waves. VIKING systems use Andersen Winches. In situations where every second counts, these lightweight stainless steel winches allow for rapid pull in of the line. Vertical ribs on the drum provide extra grip on the bowsing line, meaning that the winch needs turning fewer times. The highly polished surface minimises the risk of jamming. The...
