Centaur Charger

Product catalog summary
Product Overview
Victron Energy offers high-quality battery chargers designed to withstand harsh environments. The chargers feature aluminum epoxy powder-coated cases with drip shields and stainless steel fixings, ensuring durability against heat, humidity, and salt air. Circuit boards are protected with an acrylic coating for corrosion resistance, and temperature sensors help maintain power components within specified limits by automatically reducing output current under extreme conditions.
Specifications
The chargers operate over a universal input voltage range of 90-265V AC and are also suitable for DC supply (90-400V DC). They feature three isolated outputs, each capable of supplying the full rated current, allowing simultaneous charging of three battery banks. The charging process is three-stage with temperature compensation, and a DIP switch allows selection of optimal charge/float voltages for different battery types (Flooded Lead-acid, Gel, AGM).
Charging Process
The Centaur charger operates in three stages: bulk, absorption, and float. It charges at bulk rate until the output reduces to 70% of the rated Amps, then switches to float rate after a 4-hour timer. An internal temperature sensor compensates the charge voltage by -2 mV/ºC per cell.
Technical Data
Input voltage ranges from 90-265V AC and 90-400V DC, with an input frequency of 45-65 Hz. The power factor is 1, and the charge characteristic is IUoU (three-stage charging). The recommended battery capacity varies by model, and the chargers include features like forced cooling, output short circuit protection, and over-temperature protection. Operating temperature ranges from -20 to 60°C, with a maximum humidity of 95% non-condensing.
Standards and Compliance
The chargers comply with safety standards EN 60335-1, EN 60335-2-29, and UL 1236, as well as emission and immunity standards EN 55014-1, EN 61000-3-2, and automotive directive EN 55014-2, EN 61000-3-3.
BMV-700 Battery Monitor
The BMV-700 Battery Monitor features advanced microprocessor control and high-resolution measuring systems for battery voltage and charge/discharge current. It uses complex algorithms to determine the battery's state of charge and displays battery voltage, current, consumed Ah, or time to go. It includes an audible and visual alarm for excessively high or low battery voltage.
Installation
Installation is simplified with a separate mounting plate that can be fastened to the wall, allowing the Centaur charger to be easily hooked up and secured.

Centaur Charger-1

victron energy LUE POWER Quality without compromise Aluminium epoxy powder coated cases with drip shield and stainless steel fixings withstand the rigors of an adverse environment: heat, humidity and salt air. Circuit boards are protected with an acrylic coating for maximum corrosion resistance. Temperature sensors ensure that power components will always operate within specified limits, if needed by automatic reduction of output current under extreme environmental conditions. Universal 90-265V AC input voltage range and also suitable for DC supply (AC-DC and DC-DC operation) All models will operate without any adjustment needed over a 90 to 265 Volt input voltage range, whether 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The chargers also accept a 90-400 V DC supply. Three outputs that each can supply the full output current Three isolated outputs to simultaneously charge 3 battery banks Each output is capable to supply the full rated current. Three-stage charging, with temperature compensation The Centaur charges at bulk rate until the output has reduced to 70% of the rated Amps, at which a 4 hour timer begins. After the timed period the charger switches to float rate. An internal temperature sensor is used to compensate the charge voltage with - 2 mV/°C (- 1 mV/°F) per cell. A DIP switch is available to select the optimum charge/float voltages for Flooded Lead-acid, Gel or AGM batteries.
