Thermopreg Plates

Thermopreg Plates

Product catalog summary
Product Description
Thermopreg™ polypropylene glass plates are made from consolidated Thermopreg™ polypropylene glass fabrics. The consolidation process involves heating above the melting temperature of the polypropylene matrix (180°C-230°C / 360°F-450°F) and applying pressure before cooling. Various processes such as diaphragm, thermo compression, co-molding with plastic compounds, and local reinforcement can be used depending on the parts to be produced.
Product Application
These plates are primarily used in automotive, transportation, sports & leisure, and building & construction sectors.
Features and Benefits
  • Ready to use with thermoplastic resin included.
  • Easy storage conditions.
  • Fast processing cycle time.
  • High mechanical properties with impact resistance and weight saving.
  • No solvent emission and recyclable.
Composite Mechanical Characteristics
Mechanical properties are provided in warp/weft directions or as an average for balanced products. Key values include tensile strength and modulus, flexural strength and modulus, and impact resistance. Mechanical testing is performed on 3mm thick molded samples, and data is developed according to ISO standards.
Product Availability
Thermopreg™ plates are available as coils or cut-to-size plates. They come in various colors, nominal weights, structures, and thicknesses. Standard dimensions are provided for each product reference.
Additional Information
Thermopreg™ plates can be laminated with films or non-woven materials on one or both sides. The document includes contact information for Owens Corning offices in the USA, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
