Product catalog summary
Product Description: The M103 Chopped Strand Mat is made from Advantex® glass fiber, which combines the properties of traditional E-glass with the acid corrosion resistance of E-CR glass. It is held together by a powder binder soluble in styrene and is used for reinforcing polyester, vinyl ester, and epoxy resins. The mat is ideal for high-quality flat panels and mold making due to its low strand tex, which allows for higher resin pick-up.
Product Reference: The product code includes the Owens Corning code, surface weight, roll width, and number of trimmed edges.
Applications: The mat is used for applications requiring a good surface appearance, continuous laminating, and anti-corrosion.
Features and Benefits: It offers excellent compatibility with polyester, vinylester, and epoxy resins, resulting in laminates with high clarity and smooth surfaces.
Technical Characteristics: The mat's surface weight ranges from 225 to 600 g/m², with specific loss on ignition and moisture values.
Product Information: The document provides contact details for Owens Corning's regional offices in the USA, Europe, and Asia Pacific.
Visual Characteristics: The mat may have unbound edges, holes, dirt spots, unopened strands, and fiber accumulation, with a maximum of six defects per 100 m² roll.
Product Availability: Available in various widths and weights, subject to minimum order quantities and lead times.
Packaging: Rolls are wound on cardboard tubes and wrapped individually. Pallets contain nine vertical rolls, with special packaging options available.
Labelling: Each pallet has identification labels with product details, weights, and production date.
Storage: Store in original packaging in a dry, cool place with specific temperature and humidity conditions. Allow time for acclimatization if stored at lower temperatures.

PRODUCT INFORMATION M103 Chopped Strand Mat PRODUCT DESCRIPTION This product is produced using Advantex® glass fiber. Advantex® glass fiber combines the electrical and mechanical properties of traditional E-glass with the acid corrosion resistance of E-CR glass. The M103 chopped strand mat is made with very low size strands of Advantex® Glass Roving, held together by a powder binder which is extremely soluble in styrene. The basic strand has a sizing system containing a silane coupling agent. This multi-purpose mat is used in numerous applications; M103 chopped strand mat is used in the reinforcement of polyester, vinyl ester and epoxy resins by contact moulding and continuous machine lamination. Its very low strand tex enables higher resin pick up and as a result it is particularly appreciated in manufacture of high quality flat panels where a very good aspect is required, as a surfacing mat and in mould making. Advantex® glass is a patented glass formulation meeting ASTM D578 as a boron-free corrosion resistant E-CR glass fiber and ISO 2078 recommendation for use in acid environments. PRODUCT REFERENCE Example : M103 300-125 1ST M103 : Owens Corning code for this chopped strand mat 300 : surface weight (g/m2) 125 : roll width (cm) 1ST : number of trimmed edges (zero, one or two) PRODUCT APPLICATIONS • Very good surface appearance Continuous laminating (translucent panels, exterior panels for truck trailers, sandwich panels, etc..)
