Manufacturing Process
The Matrix Titanium construction is an evolution of the Tape-Drive method, where high-strength yarns are unbundled and evenly distributed across the sail. These yarns run continuously from head to clew, head to tack, and tack to clew, eliminating seam loads and potential failures. The yarns are laid dry on a Mylar skin, which is then laminated with heat and pressure to form a strong, seamless bond.
Materials Used
The sails are made from a base scrim of aramid or Technora, with a matrix of 100% carbon yarns. For added durability, especially in performance cruising and offshore racing, a protective layer of taffeta can be added.
Design and Technology
UK Sailmakers employs modern design software to create precise 3D sail profiles, allowing for detailed airflow simulations. This ensures that each sail is custom-designed to meet specific performance needs.

Matrix Titanium sails maintain their shape and flexibility due to the absence of adhesives in the lamination process. This results in lightweight, durable sails with optimal load distribution. The sails are guaranteed against delamination for up to two years for mainsails and non-overlapping genoas, and one year for overlapping genoas.
