Product catalog summary
Product Overview
Tru-Design Connectors are high-quality marine composite fittings designed and manufactured in New Zealand. These connectors are made from glass-reinforced nylon composite, offering high strength, stiffness, and resistance to corrosion and electrolysis, making them superior to metallic fittings.
Models
The product line includes various models with different sizes, such as ¾”, 1”, 1¼”, 1½”, and 2” BSP female and male threads, all at a 90° angle. Some models are available in packaging with header cards.
Key Features
  • Manufactured from glass-reinforced nylon composite for high strength and lightweight.
  • Compatible with all hull types, including aluminum, steel, wood, and FRP.
  • Immune to corrosion and electrolysis, ensuring long life.
  • Chemical and UV resistant, impervious to diesel, petrol, and antifouling paints.
  • High-quality surface finish that resists discoloration.
  • Compatible with Tru-Design Skin Fittings, Ball Valves, and BSPP threads.
  • Operates in a wide temperature range from -40°C to +110°C.
Specifications
The connectors use BSP parallel threads, which provide a strong and watertight seal when thread tape is applied. Mixing parallel and tapered threads is not recommended due to potential sealing issues.
Flow Diameter & Thread Length
Details are provided for each size, with a consistent thread length of 30mm and varying minimum internal diameters.
Weight
The weight of the connectors ranges from 44g (1.6oz) for the ¾” size to 163g (5.7oz) for the 2” size.
Installation
  • Ensure threads are clean and undamaged.
  • Apply 8-12 turns of thread tape clockwise.
  • Use a spanner to tighten the connector to a maximum of 16Nm (12ft/lbs).
  • Do not use with tapered thread valves or fittings.
Servicing
Minimal servicing is required due to the connectors' resistance to corrosion. Regular checks for secure fitting are recommended, and thread tape should be replaced if fittings are removed.
