TJUE Element Fender Specifications: TJUE Element Fenders are designed for restricted spaces with molded buckling column legs and embedded mounting plates. They allow for various configurations beyond traditional V-fenders, with detailed dimensions and weights provided for models ranging from TJUE 300 to TJUE 1600.
Performance Data: The document includes performance metrics for TJUE fenders, detailing energy absorption and reaction forces in both metric and US units. Guidelines on element spacing and angular factors are provided, emphasizing the importance of maintaining a gap between elements for optimal performance.
UHMW-PE Facings: TekMarine uses UHMW-PE facings for fender panels, known for impact resistance and low friction, allowing smooth vessel movement. These facings are durable, UV resistant, and recyclable, with various grades and colors available.
Anchors and Fixings: High-quality fixings and accessories are crucial for fender systems, including chain systems for managing shear, tension, and weight. Specifications for chains and anchors emphasize the need for appropriate material grades and finishes.
Specifications: Detailed specifications for shackles, brackets, anchors, and fenders are provided, including dimensions, weights, and load capacities, emphasizing the importance of selecting the right specifications for each project.
Procedures: Procedures for selecting and installing shackles, anchors, and fenders are outlined, highlighting the need for proper weight support and tension management. The use of chains is recommended in certain scenarios to maintain stability and control compression geometry.
Standards and Testing: TekMarine's products meet international standards such as PIANC and EAU-E 62. Testing methods for rubber properties include tensile strength, elongation, hardness, and resistance to environmental factors. The testing process ensures fenders meet performance criteria.
Recommendations: Consulting TekMarine for specific project needs is advised, especially for unique requirements or when standard specifications do not suffice. Environmental factors and potential overhanging hull features should be considered when installing fenders.
Key Data from Tables: Tables provide critical data on dimensions and load capacities for shackles, anchors, and fenders. For example, the tensile strength of rubber compounds is specified to be at least 16.0 MPa, and the elongation at break should be at least 400%.
Design Considerations: The importance of clearances between fenders and other structures is emphasized to prevent contact during compression. Different types of anchors for new and existing concrete structures are discussed, highlighting the benefits of cast-in and chemical anchors.
Tolerances: Manufacturing and performance tolerances are specified for various fender types, ensuring products meet required standards. TekMarine may agree to smaller tolerances in special cases.

TJUE Element Fender TJUE Element Fenders are molded buckling column legs with embedded mounting plates. Ideal for restricted spaces, they are easy to install and need little maintenance. TJUE systems combine one or more pairs of elements mounted horizontally and/or vertically behind a UHMW-PE facing or a steel panel. TJUE Elements can be used in many more configurations than traditional V-fenders, or even within specialist engineered fender systems. Dimensions Height Values are for single units, L=1m. Other sizes and fender lengths are available on request. Please ask TekMarine for details. Available...

Element spacing Always ensure there is a gap between the elements, on the panel side, of at least 5% to 10% of the element fender height. The angular factors given are based on a typical separation of 1.2 times the fender height (see diagram). For other spacings consult TekMarine. For more details on fender spacing within systems, please see ‘Design Considerations’ on p59. Intermediate values Deflection Reaction Angle factor Temperature factor Velocity factors Values are for single units, L=1m. Standard tolerance ±10%. UHMW-PE Facings TekMarine protects every fender panel with top quality UHMW-PE (Ultra High Molecular Weight Polyethylene) facings. Impact resistant and very low in friction, UHMW-PE allows vessels to move smoothly past a fender system without snagging or abrasion. It is also popular for heavy duty impact protection where fenders are not required. Easy to machine and install, UHMW-PE comes in many colors and several quality grades. UHMW-PE does not rot, split or decay and does not suffer from UV or ozone damage. It is fully recyclable. Steel panel with welded stud Open steel structure Timber structure...

Anchors and Fixings A fender system relies on the best quality fixings and accessories to perform properly. Large or heavy-duty fenders need chain systems to manage shear, tension and weight. These comprise open or stud-link chain, tensioners and shackles. Cast-in or resin anchors connect the chain systems and brackets to the quay structure. Various material grades and finishes are available: please ask TekMarine for details. Design Considerations Weight support Chains can assist in controlling the compression geometry of fenders in some applications. Please ask TekMarine for more details. Fenders can support large static weights. We recommend weight support chains for panels heavier than the rubber fender. FV When the tension will exceed the fender’s rated reaction force, then tension chains are strongly recommended. Fenders remain stable with vertical or horizontal shear forces. Shear chains may be needed for some applications and fender layouts. Clearances TJCO Cone TJSC Cell Fenders should not contact each other...
