Product catalog summary
Introduction to Twaron
Twaron is a high-performance para-aramid fiber developed by Teijin Aramid, recognized for its superior mechanical properties, chemical resistance, and thermal stability. It is extensively utilized in industries such as ballistic protection, automotive, and optical fiber cables.

Production Process
The production of Twaron involves three stages: polymerization, filament yarn spinning, and converting. Initially, monomers are transformed into a fine-grained polymer. Subsequently, the polymer is dissolved in sulfuric acid and spun into filament yarn. Finally, the yarn is crimped and cut into staple fibers or pulp.

Types of Twaron
Twaron is available in multiple forms, including filament yarn, staple fiber, short-cut fiber, powder, and pulp, each designed for specific applications like engineering plastics, specialty coatings, and rubber compounds.

Unique Properties
Twaron is characterized by its high strength, modulus, dimensional stability, heat and chemical resistance, low flammability, and non-conductivity. It does not melt and can endure brief exposure to temperatures up to 500°C.

Comparison with Other Fibers
Twaron surpasses other fibers such as polyester, polyamide, and steel in terms of tensile strength and modulus. It also exhibits resistance to organic chemicals and UV radiation.

Sustainability Initiatives
Teijin Aramid focuses on sustainability through eco-efficiency analyses and recycling programs. Twaron aids sustainability by reducing weight and conserving raw materials. The company holds certifications for ISO 9001, ISO 14001, and OHSAS 18001 standards.

About Teijin Aramid
Teijin Aramid is a global leader in aramids, providing products like Twaron, Sulfron, Teijinconex, and Technora, used in various sectors including automotive, marine, and protective clothing.

Dedicateci specialists in our manufacturing departments continually monitor the production of Twaron, which is made from monomers in three stages. These stages are polymerization, filament yarn spinning and converting. liquid crystalline solution local orientation Coagulation, washing, During the first stage, the monomers are converted into a firm fine-grained polymer. This material has the typical heat resistance and chemical properties of para-aramid. However, it has not yet acquired the reinforcing properties of yarn or pulp. Such material is used asa fine powder to improve the properties...

Mechanical properties Twaron yarns are very strong, their tensile strength being two to three times higher than that of high-strength polyester and polyamide yarns and five times higher than that of steel (on weight basis). The table on page 7 shows the mechanical properties in detail. The stress/strain curves are visualized in the graph below. Stress/strain curves Chemical resistance Twaron's high crystallinity and strong intermolecular interactions prevent chemicals from penetrating the polymer. Resistance to organic chemicals is good to excellent, while resistance to inorganic chemicals varies...

"I enjoy my work in research which is my contribution to further enhance the properties ofTwaron - tailored Elona Buckle, research assistant The scarcity of natural resources and the need for clean energy will be the most important limiting factors regarding the quality of life in the future. Sooner or later, we will reach that tipping point when our current lifestyles and business practices hit the boundary conditions of what the Earth is able to provide. Our current way of living will no longer be viable. We need to take the lead. Value throughout the chain Therefore we see sustainability as...
