SunPower's flexible solar panels, specifically the SPR-E-Flex-170 6x8 model, are designed with high power back contact cells, offering superior power output and charging capacity. Constructed with lightweight polymer materials, these panels can flex up to 30 degrees, facilitating easy transport and installation.
The panels utilize SunPower Maxeon® Solar Cells, known for their solid copper foundation, which provides resistance to power loss from cracking and corrosion. This makes them more reliable than conventional cells, especially in moist environments.
Installation is straightforward, using adhesives or stainless steel grommets, and includes quick-connect cables. A 5-year limited power warranty guarantees 80% of the minimum specified power rating. The panels are designed in the USA and assembled in France.
At standard test conditions (STC: 25°C, 1000 W/m², AM 1.5), the panel has a nominal power of 170 W with a power tolerance of +/-3%. Other specifications include a rated voltage of 29.4 V, rated current of 5.84 A, open-circuit voltage of 34.6 V, and short-circuit current of 6.15 A. The power temperature coefficient is -0.30%/°C.
The panels feature prime monocrystalline 25% efficiency SunPower IBC cells, a junction box with a by-pass diode, and PV4-S connectors compatible with MC4. The cables are 4 mm², 450 mm long, and the panel dimensions are 1153 x 810 x 20 mm with the junction box. The panel weighs 6.3 lbs (2.9 kg).
