Aquarius brochure - 1

Subeo Ltd has now evaluated its 2-man concept vehicle Gemini and after extensive testing and market research has now developed its design for its 3-person production craft Aquarius. Aquarius will build on the very successful design of the Gemini vehicle, but will include the very latest technology in relation to its main propulsion systems. The heart of any submersible is its energy source, traditionally small submersibles and military submarines have used lead acid batteries. These batteries give off explosive gas when charging which in the sealed space of a submersible can result in potential explosion if the gas is not monitored and vented. The lead acid battery also requires considerable maintenance. Aquarius will use the sealed nickle sodium battery, which is totally sealed and maintenance free. Aquarius will be powered by an integrated thruster system. This new development in propellor power produces a very small unit without water seals or expensive and complicated Aquarius will use a monocoque hull construction with integral buoyancy tanks making a streamlined and maintenance free craft. This type of construction enables the craft to be manufactured in a relatively short time and reduces Aquarius will use the latest technology to monitor and control the craft but still maintain all the manual safety systems designed and built into the concept vehicle. Aquarius' life support systems and comfort cooling/heating are part of a fully integrated system maintaining the cabin at an ideal level of comfort and air quality. Its life support consumables will be sufficient for a normal mission time of 2 hours plus a further 72 hours required Aquarius is piloted by one joystick with all the operating and life support values displayed on a touch screen. Provision is made for all occupants to pilot the craft. Aquarius will have an operating depth of 50M to 100M and a maximum speed of 7 knots. Aquarius is designed and manufactured under the classing authority Aquarius is the ideal vehicle for underwater exploration and scientific observation, and with its multi-thruster system is a very stable underwater, filming and observation vehicle. Areas such as the Red Sea where underwater visibility and marine life are excellent provide ideal venues for investment, recreational and commercial use of this vehicle.

Aquarius brochure - 2

The scale model of Aquarius has undergone dynamic assessment at IFREMERs (world renowned French Marine Institute) Water Circulation Tank in Boulogne. The results from this testing indicate a very low drag co-efficient, giving a possible maximum speed of 7 knots with its 20kw thruster system. IntegratedThrusters (TM) are a perfectly matched combination of thruster and electric drive, providing high symmetrical thrust from a very small package. Integrating the direct drive motor into the thrust duct maximises its torque and efficiency while leaving water flow unobstructed. Different sizes are...
