Photographer: Georgia Schofield Georgia Schofield LIVE THE TIKI LIFE. Join us on a journey to protect our blue planet while riding the best gear ever. Our welded, woven and fusion double chambered inflatable boards set the benchmark for durability, stiffness, weight and performance. Our Deluxe boards are simply more stable, lighter and with that amazing immediate reflex feel. Our Blue Carbon composite boards have won 8 out of 10 gold medals at the ISA SUP Surf World’s over the last five years. Starboard has also been leading the SUPRacer.com rankings for six years straight. We created the Plastic Offset Program, whereby we calculated our plastic footprint to then tax ourselves and set up a fund to incentivize our coastal cleanups. We also have 230,000 Mangrove trees in the ground in the Thor Heyerdahl Climate Park, making us more than 10 x climate positive. So get a Starboard, let us plant a mangrove tree and pick up coastal plastic trash equivalent to 200 bags, protecting our blue planet. Live the Tiki Life and join us on our journey to be better for the world. GIRL POWER

Let’s reduce or quit our habit of buying products wrapped in single-use plastic. If no alternatives are available, tell the shop keeper and send a message to the brand / shop about your concern. Pick up trash you see, it will help remind you to get off the addiction. Some say that 80% of our planet’s deforestation is caused by meat production as more land is needed to grow food for animals. We want to share that the climate crises partially come from deforestation. We need to regenerate forests for the challenging years ahead. Sea trees or mangroves are important players as they absorb more CO2 than any other sources while also helping clean the ocean, and sheltering coastal villages for heavy storms. We are a partnering in replanting one Billion mangrove trees over the next 10 years. The pilot project in the Thor Heyerdahl Climate Park with six million trees is already finished. The mangrove reforestation project in conjunction with WIF, aims at absorbing anually the equivalent...

HOW DO WE MEET THIS ULTIMATE GOAL? To offset the impact of plastic use within the company in 2018 Starboard need to collect 43,000kg by June 2019. Not only are we re-claiming trash from nature’s golden beaches, but we also give a second income to 29 team members in Pattaya. These individuals are spending 2-3 days a week, collecting trash and then sorting it into recyclables, fabrics and unusable trash. Items such as flipflops, straws, lighters and bottle caps are kept for artwork. GROUND THROUGH The oceans are our playground. We create boards to make sure we are having the greatest experience...

Look inside your closet and compare your knitted clothes against the woven ones. LESS STRETCH AND HIGHER STRENGTH You will find that the woven fabrics are significantly less stretchy. Our inflatable boards used to be made with knitted dropstitch, but in 2015 we started experimenting with woven reinforcement layers. However woven fabrics are complex to coat and laminate, so the coating process would leave pinholes, which resulted in leaks, and the lamination was not spreading evenly on the fabric resulting in wrinkles, which caused twisting issues. It took years to fine tune the woven top and...
