Last year in this space I illustrated what it means to 'Think Outside The Box" in aircraft design, on one hand and windsurfing on the other. If you missed it or lost it, I'll summarize it by noting that in manned aircraft the high speed/high altitude boundary of the box is still held by the X-15, even after forty-some years.
