Product catalog summary
Description: SIGMARINE 42 is a high-quality, weather-resistant clear varnish based on wood oil phenolic resin, suitable for both interior and exterior use. It offers excellent gloss retention and resistance to salt and fresh water, as well as good scratch and abrasion resistance.
Principal Characteristics: The varnish is transparent with a gloss finish. It has a mass density of 0.9 g/cm³ and volume solids of 49 ± 2%. The VOC content is a maximum of 428 g/kg or 395 g/l.
Basic Data at 20°C: Recommended dry film thickness is 30 µm per coat, with a theoretical spreading rate of 16.3 m²/l. It becomes touch dry after 3 hours, with a minimum overcoating interval of 16 hours and no maximum limit. The shelf life is at least 24 months if stored above 0°C.
Recommended Substrate and System Specification: The substrate should be dry and free from contamination. For new tropical timber, a polyurethane clear varnish is recommended as a sealer. For open grain woods, a specific coating process with Sigmarine 42 is advised. Oil seals should not be used under Sigmarine 42.
Instructions for Use: Stir well before use. The paint temperature should be above 15°C for optimal application. Adequate ventilation is necessary during application and curing.
Safety Precautions: Avoid inhalation of spray mist or vapour and contact with skin or eyes. Refer to safety sheets for detailed precautions.
