Product catalog summary
Description: SIGMARINE 28 is a one-component, quick-drying, high-build, multi-purpose zinc phosphate primer designed for onboard maintenance of above-water areas. It offers easy application, quick drying, and is recoatable with various one and two-component products. It is surface tolerant and provides good anticorrosive properties. Available in grey, red-brown, and off-white colors with a flat finish.
Principal Characteristics: The primer is characterized by its mass density of 1.5 g/cm³, volume solids of 55 ± 2%, and a VOC content of max. 266 g/kg. It has a recommended dry film thickness of 75 µm per coat and a theoretical spreading rate of 7.3 m²/l for 75 µm. Touch dry time is 30 minutes at 20°C and 2 hours at 5°C, with a minimum overcoating interval of 4 hours and a maximum of unlimited. The shelf life is at least 12 months when stored in a cool and dry place.
Recommended Substrate Conditions and Temperatures: Suitable for steel surfaces that are blast cleaned to ISO-Sa2½ with a blasting profile of 40 - 70 µm or power tool cleaned to min. ISO-St2. The substrate temperature should be above 5°C and at least 3°C above the dew point.
System Specification: The primer is compatible with marine system sheets 3102, 3103, 3104, 3105, and 3107.
Instructions for Use: Stir well before use. The paint temperature should preferably be above 15°C. Excessive solvent use can reduce sag resistance. Adequate ventilation is necessary during application and curing.
Application Methods:
  • Airless Spray: Use Thinner 21-06, 0-5% volume, with a nozzle orifice of approx. 0.38 - 0.48 mm and a pressure of 12 - 16 MPa.
  • Air Spray: Use Thinner 21-06, 5-10% volume, with a nozzle orifice of approx. 1.7 - 2.0 mm and a pressure of 0.2 - 0.3 MPa.
  • Brush/Roller: Use Thinner 21-06, 0-3% volume.
Safety Precautions: Avoid inhalation of spray mist or vapor and contact with skin or eyes. Refer to safety sheets 1430, 1431, and relevant material safety data sheets for more information.
Additional Data: The product is available worldwide, but slight modifications may be necessary to comply with local regulations. Refer to information sheets 1411, 1430, 1431, 1433, 1434, and 1490 for further guidance.
