Product catalog summary
Product Description: SEAGUARD VOID COAT LT is a high-quality, single-component, water-based coating designed for low-temperature applications. It is suitable for buoyancy and bilge tanks in fresh and saltwater barges but not for potable water tanks due to its antibacterial components.
Product Characteristics: The coating has a semi-gloss finish and is gray in color. It contains 65% volume solids and 72% weight solids, with a VOC content of 0.5 lb/gal. Theoretical coverage is 208 sq. feet per gallon at 5 mils dry. It dries to touch in 2 hours and cures in 24 hours at 20°F. The shelf life is 12 months, and it has a flash point of 110°F. No reduction is required for cleanup, which can be done with water.
Recommended Uses: The coating is highly resistant to tobacco juicing, can be applied in cold temperatures, offers extreme corrosion protection, and is HAPS free. It is suitable for severe atmospheric corrosion protection and resistant to high-pressure steam cleaning.
Performance Characteristics: The coating passes corrosion resistance tests (ASTM B117) for 336 hours, has a direct impact resistance of 160 in. lbs. (ASTM D2794), and withstands high temperatures up to 450°F. It also passes saltwater immersion tests (ASTM D870-97) for 336 hours.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free of contaminants. Mixing may be required to achieve optimal flow characteristics, especially if exposed to cold temperatures.
Application Conditions: The temperature range for application is 20°F to 120°F, with relative humidity at least 5°F above the dew point. Tinting is not recommended.
Ordering Information: Available in 5, 55, and 330-gallon containers, with a weight of 10.4 ± 0.2 lb per gallon.
Safety Precautions: Refer to the MSDS sheet before use. Protect from freezing and consult Sherwin-Williams for the latest technical data.
Warranty: Sherwin-Williams warrants products to be free of manufacturing defects, with liability limited to replacement or refund.
Recommended Systems: For steel with an alkyd primer, apply 1 coat of Seaguard Void Coat LT at 5.0-10.0 mils dry film thickness using airless spray application.
Clean Up Instructions: Clean spills immediately with soap and warm water. Flush spray equipment with Mineral Spirits after cleaning.
Disclaimer: Information is based on tests by Sherwin-Williams and is subject to change. Consult a representative for the most recent data.
