Product Description: SEAGUARD Ablative
Antifouling Coating is a polyamide polymer-based coating containing cuprous oxide, designed for underwater surfaces of steel vessels in coastal and oceanic waters. It offers a long-lasting, bio-active surface and is tin-free, complying with MIL-PRF-24647 standards.
Product Characteristics: The coating has a flat finish and is available in red, light red, black, and blue. It has a volume solids content of 65% ± 2% and a VOC content of less than 400 g/L. Recommended spreading rates are 4.0 to 7.0 wet mils and 2.5 to 4.0 dry mils per coat, with coverage ranging from 260 to 430 sq ft/gal.
Recommended Uses: Suitable for marine environments, particularly for vessels with service speeds exceeding 10 knots and short to medium idle times. It resists fouling and contains 49% cuprous oxide.
Surface Preparation: Surfaces must be clean, dry, and free from contaminants. For iron and steel, SSPC-SP10/NACE 2 preparation is recommended. Previously painted surfaces should be cleaned and dried before overcoating.
Application Conditions: Maximum application temperature is 120°F, and the surface temperature should be at least 5°F above the dew point. No moisture or condensation should be present during application.
Application Procedures: Mix thoroughly before use. Apply at recommended film thickness and spreading rate. Drying times vary with temperature, with a minimum recoat time of 2 to 32 hours and undocking time of 4 to 48 hours.
Performance Tips: Use a 50% overlap when spraying to avoid defects. Excessive reduction of material is not recommended. Clean equipment with VM&P Naphtha, R1K3.
Safety Precautions: Refer to the MSDS sheet before use. Technical data and instructions are subject to change.
Warranty: Sherwin-Williams warrants products to be free of manufacturing defects, with liability limited to replacement or refund.
