Product catalog summary
Sail Entry Gate and MDS Cars
The sail entry gate is designed for compatibility with both Seldén MDS cars and conventional sail slides. For MDS cars, the gate can be easily removed for installation or removal. When using conventional slides, the spring-loaded mid-section of the gate is utilized. Detailed information on conventional sail slides is available in the Sailmakers Guide on the Seldén website.

Bolt Rope Extrusion and Sail Entry
Sails with bolt rope can be used in C-sections, with a new sail feeder positioned approximately 700 mm above the boom bracket. The PVC bolt rope extrusion is inserted into the standard luff groove.

MDS Full-Batten Concept for C-Sections
The MDS (Multi-Directional Support) cars provide full support in all directions, simplifying sail handling. These cars absorb side loads through wheels that run against guiding flanges in the luff groove, managing both longitudinal and side loads without the need for an external track, reducing weight aloft. The MDS system complements the Seldén Single Line Reef boom for efficient mainsail handling.

Breaking Loads and Parts Specifications
The document lists various breaking loads for different components, ranging from 4 kN to 25 kN. It also provides detailed part numbers and specifications for mast sections, headboard assemblies, and full-batten cars, categorized by monohull and multihull configurations.

Key Components and Art Numbers
The document includes a comprehensive list of art numbers for different components such as headboard assemblies, full-batten cars, and intermediate sail cars, along with their respective specifications and configurations for different mast sections.

A full batten always creates a side load on the cars, particularly when you release the halyard for taking a reef. Each car has side-load absorbing wheels that run against the guiding flanges in the luff groove. The interaction between the mast section and the MDS car deals with longitudinal loads, as well as side loads. This is the essence of the MDS concept. Since the cars need no external...
