Product catalog summary
Introduction to LED Technology
Sealite's marine lanterns utilize LED technology, offering significant advantages over traditional incandescent lighting. Initially invented in the 1920s, LEDs have evolved to provide high brightness across various wavelengths, making them a reliable and cost-efficient lighting solution.
Advantages of LEDs
  • Energy Efficiency: LEDs convert up to 80% of electrical energy into light, significantly reducing energy loss compared to incandescent bulbs.
  • Longevity: LEDs have a lifespan of approximately 100,000 hours, far exceeding the 1,000-2,000 hours of incandescent bulbs.
  • Compact Size: Their small size allows for flexible design, enabling the creation of compact yet powerful marine lanterns.
  • Durability: Encased in plastic, LEDs are resistant to vibrations, heat, cold, and shock, making them ideal for marine environments.
  • Cost Savings: Despite higher initial costs, LEDs offer long-term savings through reduced energy consumption and maintenance.
Technical Features
  • Flash Characteristics: LEDs achieve full brightness quickly and can be dimmed without altering color, thanks to Pulse Width Modulation technology.
  • Lens Design: Sealite lenses are optimized for LEDs, enhancing light intensity and minimizing power use.
  • LED Color: The color is determined by the chemical composition of the LED die, not by filters.
Environmental Impact
LEDs significantly reduce CO2 emissions compared to incandescent bulbs. Sealite's solar-powered lanterns further eliminate emissions, and LEDs are non-toxic, containing no hazardous materials.
Quality and Standards
Sealite products are manufactured under strict quality control, with an IP68 rating ensuring maximum protection against water, rust, and dust. Sealite's commitment to innovation and quality makes it a leader in marine navigation aids.

Compact Lights make a Big Impact! Sealite’s marine lanterns use LED (Light Emitting Diode) technology as their light source. The advantages LEDs have over traditional incandescent lighting have made Sealite’s marine lanterns one of the most cost efficient and reliable lanterns available today. The LED was first invented in Russia in the 1920s but practical use of them was not made for several decades. In recent years, as LED technology has become more advanced, the light output and efficiency have been increased making them a viable option for lighting applications. Early LEDs only emitted low-intensity...

Compact Size LEDs are very small in size. They are basically just tiny bulbs that fit easily onto printed circuit boards. Their small size provides greater design flexibility and Sealite has taken advantage of this to produce marine lanterns which are compact without compromising on performance. LEDs are able to be arranged in rows, rings, clusters or individual points. An example of this is the Sealite SL125 Series of lanterns which comes with up to four tiers of LEDs. Each additional tier increases the light output and, depending on how many tiers it has, the SL125 can have a visible range...

Lens Design Sealite Lenses are designed specifically for use with LEDs to give superior optical performance. Both the internal and external profiles of the lenses have been designed to maximise light intensity while minimising power consumption. Made from UV-stabilised Lexan® polycarbonate, the lenses provide accurate colour output and will not discolour over time. LED Colour The different colours of LED lights are not produced by the traditional method of using coloured filters or lenses. The colour of the LED is based on the chemical composition of the LED die. The most common elements used...
