Overview: This document provides detailed instructions for boat repairs using Sea-Line® products, focusing on GRP, steel, aluminum, and wood boat systems. It includes specifications for product application, recommended procedures, and best practices for achieving optimal results.
Specifications:- Epoxy Lightprimer: Apply 1-2 coats above and below the waterline. Thinning ratios vary for brush/roll (5%-25%) and spray (5%-50%). Pot life is 2 hours at 20°C, with a recoat time of 4 hours and a maximum of 5 days.
- Polyurethane: Apply 1-3 coats above the waterline. Thinning ratios for brush/roll are 15%-25% and for spray 45%-55%. Pot life is 6 hours 30 minutes, with a recoat time of 72 hours.
- Antifouling: Compatible with all types of antifouling paints, both self-polishing and hard.
Procedures:- Surface Preparation: Degrease, sand, remove dust, and degrease again. Wash off salts and impurities with fresh water using Sea-Line® cleaner.
- Mixing and Application: Mix products thoroughly until a uniform color is achieved. Only mix enough for immediate use. Use recommended thinners and do not exceed the hardener amount.
- Application Conditions: Minimum temperature for epoxy products is +10°C. Apply systems below the waterline 5 cm above the real waterline.
Recommendations:- Use epoxy fillers for hull elements below the waterline.
- Apply Sea-Line® epoxy lightprimer before polyester topcoat systems.
- Follow technical data sheets (TDS) and material safety data sheets (MSDS) for all applications.
Systems:- Antiosmotic System: For new hulls, apply 1 coat of Epoxy Lightprimer followed by 2-4 coats of Antiosmotic HS Epoxy Primer. No thinning recommended for HS Epoxy Primer.
- Osmotic Repair System: Similar to the antiosmotic system, with additional epoxy filler applications as needed.
- Steel and Aluminum Boat System: Includes anticorrosion epoxy primer and epoxy fillers for leveling and thick applications.
- Wood Boat System: Similar to other systems, with specific recommendations for polyurethane application above the waterline.
Critical Information:- Ensure correct coating thickness (100 μm dtf) for effective antifouling paint operation.
- Adhere to specified pot life and recoat times to ensure product effectiveness.
