All SBA beds are manufactured of first class material, design and craftsmanship to meet requirements spe- cific for marine conditions: non-combustibility, econ- omy of space and weight, durability, easy handling by personnel as well as passengers, and easy care. Proven standard constructions serve as a basis for products, but the final design is often the result of co- operation between the shipowner's architect, the ship- yard and SBA's designers: a tailor-made product for each specific project. On board ferries there has been a need of alternatives for simple and practical sofa beds for passenger cabins. To meet this need SBA designed a backrest that combined with a single bed serves as a sofa in The bedclothes, including an overlay mattress, are stored inside the backrest during the day, while the bed can be used as a sofa.
