IHC Beagle® 8 More than 150 years ago Charles Darwin joined the expedition of HMS Beagle. Its five-year voyage took him all over the world, enabling him to develop the scientific foundations for his most famous work: On the Origin of Species. His new way of thinking deeply influenced the way humans considered their origins. While Darwin was the first to comprehensively conceive evolution as the way species develop, more than a century of evolution in dredging preceded the conception of Royal IHC's newest product: the IHC Beagle®, a standardised trailing suction hopper dredger. Royal IHC (IHC) products are well known for their cost effective designs, robust construction, reliable operation and excellent performance. The IHC product range stretches from the standard IHC Beaver® cutter suction dredgers to the largest custom-built trailing suction hopper dredgers. The IHC Beagle® 8 is a standard trailing suction hopper dredger with a capacity of 8,000 cubic meters and is equipped with two suction tubes. The maximum dredging depth is 26m. The compact robust design combined with efficient use of installed diesel engine power results in an unrivalled low cost per cubic meter of dredged material. The basic version is well suited for maintenance dredging. Adding options like a bow coupling and make it applicable for land reclamation purpose. These options can be added during new-building or in later stage, when the dredge is already operational. This modular approach makes the IHC Beagle® 8 a very versatile piece of dredging equipment.
