IHC Beagle® 4

IHC Beagle® 4

Product catalog summary
Introduction
The IHC Beagle® 4 is a standard trailing suction hopper dredger developed by Royal IHC, known for its cost-effective, robust, and reliable designs. It is inspired by the evolution of dredging technology, much like Darwin's evolutionary theories.

Specifications
The IHC Beagle® 4 has a hopper capacity of 4,000 cubic meters and a maximum dredging depth of 25 meters. It features a single suction tube with a diameter of 800mm and is powered by diesel engines with a total installed power of 3,750kW. The vessel measures approximately 81.7 meters in length and 19.6 meters in breadth, with a gross tonnage of about 3,950.

Design and Features
The vessel is designed for shallow draught dredging with low vibration levels and features an IHC Merwede hull shape with a bulbous bow for low resistance. It offers optimal maneuverability with two steerable thrusters and includes high-efficiency dredge pumps. The intuitive Hopper Control Chair (IHCC) and IHC Merwede Planned Maintenance System (IPMS) enhance operational efficiency.

Optional Packages
Several optional packages are available, including a comfort package with a capstan and bow thruster, a service facility package with deck cranes, and a land reclamation package with a bow coupling. Additional options include an extended suction tube, degassing installation, and increased crew accommodation.

Life-cycle Support
The IHC Beagle® 4 comes with start-up training, a planned maintenance system, and a spare parts start-up kit to ensure long-term operational support.

Conclusion
The IHC Beagle® 4 is a versatile and efficient dredging vessel suitable for maintenance dredging and land reclamation, offering a modular approach to meet various operational needs.

IHC Beagle® 4-1

More than 150 years ago Charles Darwin joined the expedition of HMS Beagle. Its five-year voyage took him all over the world, enabling him to develop the scientific foundations for his most famous work: On the Origin of Species. His new way of thinking deeply influenced the way humans considered their origins. While Darwin was the first to comprehensively conceive evolution as the way species develop, more than a century of evolution in dredging preceded the conception of Royal IHC’s newest product: the IHC Beagle®, a standardised trailing suction hopper. Royal IHC (IHC) products are well known for their cost effective designs, robust construction, reliable operation and excellent performance. The IHC product range stretches from the standard IHC Beaver® cutter suction dredgers to the largest custom-built trailing suction hopper dredgers. Features and benefits: • modern design for shallow draught dredging at low vibration levels • IHC Merwede hull shape with bulbous bow resulting in a low resistance • compact vessel with high deadweight carrying capacity • optimal manoeuvrability with 2 steerable thrusters • IHC Merwede high efficiency dredge pumps • Intuitive Hopper Control Chair (IHCC) • training included (class room, simulator & on the job) • IHC Merwede Planned Maintenance System (IPMS) • spare parts start-up kit. The IHC Beagle® 4 is a standard trailing suction hopper dredger with a capacity of 4,000 cubic meters and is equipped with a single suction tube. The maximum dredging depth is 25m. The compact robust design, combined with efficient use of installed diesel engine power, results in an unrivalled low cost per cubic meter of dredged material. The basic version is well suited for maintenance dredging. Adding options like a bow coupling and self emptying channel makes it applicable for land reclamation purpose as well. These options can be added during new-building or in later stage, when the dredge is already operational. This modular approach makes the IHC Beagle® 4 a very versatile piece of dredging equip
