CABLELAYING VESSEL All rights reserved. Reproduction in any form or by any means is not allowed, without prior permission in writing from IHC Merwede Holding BV. Royal IHC proudly provides cablelay solutions for the offshore wind market. Our delivery scope ranges from design services to turnkey delivery of complete, newly built cablelay vessels or spreads. For existing vessels, IHC offers various cablelay services such as renovations, upgrades, equipment rental, maintenance and consultancy. The CLV T4000-22 is an excellent example of a vessel built for a specialist, offshore wind cablelay project. It has been designed using our knowledge of cable installation operations, in combination with extensive design skills and experience building highly integrated offshore vessels and equipment. LEAN CABLELAY OPERATIONS The cablelay system is specifically designed for repeating sequences when installing large volumes of inter-array cable. A lean approach during the design of material flows and storage has resulted in a vessel sized appropriately for any project. It will also reduce costs during inter-array cablelaying operations significantly (up to 30%). All stages of a cablelay operation have been taken into account, from load-out at the cable manufacturer to burial of the cable into the seabed. In the picture on the backside of this leaflet, cable storage below deck in a controlled environment is demonstrated. Two carousels allow for simultaneous loading, which results in fast load-outs and time savings. Storage below deck leaves plenty of deck space to accommodate a quadrant with a 50m track, making operations in deeper water possible. Containers to store the cable protection systems are positioned around the quadrant to ensure a safe and efficient flow of materials. The unique quadrant system is placed in-line, eliminating the need to lay cable any further than necessary. In addition, smart routing of the cable results in flexibility, allowing it to be laid over portside or starboard side depending on the preferred heading during second-end cable pull-in.
