DLS-2A Non-Magnetic

DLS-2A Non-Magnetic

Product catalog summary
Overview: The DLS-2A Non-Magnetic Diver Locator Sonar is a portable sonar system designed for Military Explosive Ordnance Disposal divers to locate underwater mines and submerged objects. It provides bearing and range information and can locate pingers or other sound sources.
Technology: Utilizes Continuous Transmission Frequency Modulated (CTFM) sonar technology to detect objects within 20, 60, and 120-yard ranges. The system emits a continuous signal of varying frequencies, determining range by comparing transmitted and echo frequencies. An audible tone in the headset indicates target proximity, with lower tones for closer targets.
Modes:
  • Active Mode: Provides range information with a resolution better than 2° and operates at 115-145kHz.
  • Passive Mode: Offers bearing information for sound sources between 24 to 45kHz, with a range exceeding 2,180 yards (2,000m).
Specifications:
  • Operating Depth: 300 ft. (91 m)
  • Power Source: Rechargeable batteries with a 10-hour life in active mode
  • Weight: 7.5 lbs (3.4 kg) in air, 10 oz (0.3 kg) in water
  • Dimensions: Length 12.5 in (32 cm), Diameter 4.5 in (11.4 cm)
  • Operating Temperature: 28°F (-2°C) to 86°F (30°C)
Additional Features: Comes with a compass, rechargeable batteries, charger, skull cap, headset, flotation collar, O-ring lubricant, carrying case, and a 1-year warranty. It is non-magnetic, meeting Mil-M-19595 standards, and requires a State Department license for use.

The system provides bearing and range information to the target and can also be used to locate pingers or other sound sources. The DLS-2A uses Continuous Transmission Frequency Modulated (CTFM) sonar technology to locate objects within 20, 60, and 120 yard ranges. A continuous signal of varying frequencies is transmitted & range information is determined by comparing the transmitted frequency to the echo frequency. As a target is located with the DLS-2A, an audible tone is generated in the underwater headset. A low tone indicates a close target whereas a high tone indicates a distant target. Moving towards the target will cause the tone to become continually lower until contact is made. When the passive mode is selected, the DLS-2A provides bearing information to a pinger or other sound source operating between 24 to 45kHz. The system comes with compass, rechargeable batteries, charger, skull cap, headset, flotation collar, O-ring lubricant, carrying case and 1-year warranty.
