8020 SURFACE FINISHING EPOXY FILLER RESOLTECH 8020 is a high performance epoxy filler formulated for the surface finishing of composite structures. It is easy to apply with a squeegee, easy to sand after cure, tough and durable for life. 8020 is suitable for marine structures, lightweight composite boats, windmill blades edges and all surface finishing applications. MIXING RATIO By weight: 1 + 1 Hardeners available: 8026H WARNING: The mixing ratio must be accurately followed. It is not possible to change the ratio, it would result in lower mechanical properties. The mixture should be thoroughly stirred to ensure full homogeneity. It is important to note that epoxy systems tend to heat up much faster in a pot than as a thin film. It is therefore necessary to only mix the necessary amount usable within the given pot life. Keeping the mixture in flat open containers reduces the risks of exothermic reaction. APPLICATION RESOLCOAT 8020 should be applied onto a cured composite structure. The surface should be sanded, unless peel ply was used. The filler can be applied with a squeegee, in various thicknesses. Being non-solvented, it can even be used in thick layers, although very high thicknesses should be avoided in hot climates because of the risk of exothermy. Once cured, the filler can be sanded by hand or machine. Final surface finishing should be done with the RESOLCOAT 3000 or 3010 high build surfacer. RESOLCOAT 8020 is easy to mix, quite insensitive to moisture, easy to smooth out. Once cured, the system provides long lasting protection, even in water, with improved impact resistance and elongation to failure. The standard procedure of working with epoxy systems applies to the RESOLCOAT 8020. For more information, please refer to the applications technical bulletins (TechNotes), available on request.
