MARINE FENDERS

Product catalog summary

Overview

Resinex marine fenders are foam-filled, closed-cell polyethylene (PE) fenders designed as a superior alternative to traditional pneumatic and rubber fenders. They provide high energy absorption with low reaction force, ensuring vessel hull protection during berthing and ship-to-ship transfers.

Product Description and Advantages

  • Made entirely of closed-cell elastic expanded polyethylene foam, guaranteeing unsinkability even if damaged.
  • High elasticity of expanded PE allows absorption of high impact energy with minimal reaction force, reducing hull damage risk.
  • Special expanded PE compound developed for excellent adhesion with polyurethane elastomer coating.
  • Steel core wrapped with expanded PE and covered by a thick elastomer polyurethane layer for abrasion and break resistance.
  • Available in various sizes and shapes, including angular forms, from small fenders (~0.6 m length) up to jumbo sizes (7 m length, 3.5 m diameter).

Technical Specifications

Materials

  • Closed Cell Polyethylene Foam: Density 33-45 kg/m³, tensile strength 4-5 kg/cm², elongation at break 130-170%, compression resistance at 30% and 50%, minimal water absorption, tested per ASTM and DIN standards.
  • Polyurethane Elastomer Coating: Hardness 70-84 Shore A, tensile strength 7-30 MPa, elongation at break 500-750%, excellent abrasion resistance.
  • Steel Core: Galvanized steel (Fe42 B/52B UNI 7070 or Fe45.2/52.2 UNI 663.68), sandblasted and coated for corrosion resistance.

Operating Conditions

  • Working temperature range: -20°C to +70°C
  • Excellent water, hydrocarbon, and UV resistance
  • Color: Orange

Performance Data

Compression tests on 4’ x 7.4’ Resinex fenders demonstrated the ability to withstand up to 80% compression without damage and nearly complete dimensional recovery within 2 minutes.

Energy Absorption and Reaction Force Comparison

Compared to pneumatic fenders, Resinex fenders offer high energy absorption with significantly lower reaction forces at various compression levels (50% and 60%). For example, a 4’ x 7.4’ fender absorbs 19 ton-meters of energy at 50% compression with a reaction force of 28 tons, outperforming pneumatic counterparts.
