CONTAINER CARRIER 572 TEU FOR ROYAL ARCTIC LINE AS “Mary Arctica” is a single screw vessel, with four holds, with superstructure and engineroom located aft, and with two deck cranes. The vessel’s purpose is the cargo carriage between the ports of Denmark and various harbours in Greenland. Therefore ship has the highest ice class notation ICE 1A* this means that (apart from ice belt along the ship) plates in forward part are up to 30 mm thick, and the stem plate – 50 mm. Additionally there is an ice knife above the rudder blade and ice fins in front of the propeller. In order to enable the ship to slide onto ice (to crush it with its own weight) the bow has the shape characteristic for ships sailing in polar regions. PARTICULARS FOR M/S “MARY ARCTICA” CLASSIFICATION The vessel is classed with DNV and her full class notation is +1A1, GENERAL CARGO/CONTAINER CARRIER, E0, ICS, DGP, ICE 1A* (in-water survey). Overall capacity of water ballast tanks is 6125 m3, fuel oil tanks (two biggest located in transverse bulkhead) have total volume of 1175 m3. “Mary Arctica” is able to carry 259 20-ft containers in four box-shaped holds (equiped with cell guides) and 313 20-ft containers on deck and hatch covers.
