SURFACE PREPARATION

SURFACE PREPARATION

Product catalog summary
Surface Preparation: Antifouling effectiveness depends on perfect adhesion and a smooth finish. Plastimo offers primers suitable for various substrates and conditions. High-pressure washing and cleaning with Thinner E are recommended for surface preparation, followed by wet sanding.
Primers: Two types of primers are discussed: Underwater primer and Epoxy primer. Underwater primer is used below the waterline to improve adhesion, while Epoxy primer offers high-performance protection and osmosis prevention. Application involves multiple coats with specific drying times between coats.
Application Procedure: Use large brushes and woollen rollers for even application. Paint should be applied in crosswise layers on a maximum surface area of 1 m². The quantity of paint is determined by calculating the surface area and coverage ratio.
Antifouling: Apply two coats on the hull and an extra coat on critical areas like the rudder blade. Use masking tape to protect sensitive parts. Allow specific drying times between coats and before launching.
Recommendations: Always read labels and use pesticides safely. The document emphasizes the importance of precise calculations for paint quantity and adherence to recommended procedures for optimal results.

SURFACE PREPARATION-1

finish quality is totally smooth. Plastimo surface conditions. ferro cement different paints. Improves adhesion on a surface with a previous coat or on an antifouling in poor condition. above waterline. High performance surfaces + protection from abuse Preparation and priming for paintwork below the waterline By calculating precisely the surface area to be painted (primer and antifouling), you will determine the quantity necessary to obtain best results and efficiency. The performance of the antifouling results to a large extent from the quantity and the thickness applied (even more so if you have chosen a fast polishinq antifoulinq). In all cases, the total quantity calculated must be applied. • Calculation of the surface to be painted, in m2 (Beam + Draw) x Load waterline = Surface area in m2 Beam + Draw) x Load waterline x 0.75 = Surface area in m2 Beam + Draw) x Load waterline x 0.50 = Surface area in i • Calculation of paint quantity - = Number ot litres per coat. Multiply this result by the number of coats recommended. Use the largest brush possible. Use a woollen roller with a short pile and a paint brush for hard to reach areas. Apply paint in regular inverted layers crosswise onto a surface of 1 m2
