The separation process • As the oily water first enters the large volume pass chamber, its velocity slows dramati- cally. This reduction in speed allows the natural separation process and forces the vast majority of oil out of the water. Prior to exiting the unit, the oily water passes through a second oil retentive polishing chamber. Any residual oil will cling to the polymer polishing beads, which possess an amazing affinity for oil. • When enough oil collects in the separator, clean water discharge is secured and a flush cycle is auto- matically initiated.
