Traditional styling with modern materials The Ranger 17 is a traditionally styled launch based on a West Country fishing boat and is built in a traditional way, however, the use of modern GRP materials, gives the boat maximum strength and performance with the minimum of maintenance. Outhill Boatbuilders have been building boats and marine components for over 25 years and we have chosen what we think are the best materials and components for this boat to give you many years of Bob Moulston, founder of Outhill Boatbuilders, has a Ranger 17, on the Salcombe estuary in Devon. Whilst his grand plans for a freezer fully stocked with fresh caught local fish have not quite be realised (Despite his fish finder, Bob is actually yet to catch anything other than seaweed!), the enjoyment of quietly exploring the bay and estuary in the Ranger 17 have more than made up for this! The boat has a strong seaworthy hull and is ideal for estuaries or coastal cruising, not forgetting rivers and lakes, and could be used commercially as a harbour launch, hire boat, ferry etc. It also has the advantage of a highly economical inboard diesel engine with an impressive average consumption of less than 1 litre/ hour. Less time spent doing maintenance means more time on the water and the Ranger 17 has been designed with this in mind. This is a highly practical and functional launch. Its large comfortable interior with its Treadmaster flooring means cleaning and maintenance is easy. Access to the diesel engine is by a hinged GRP box, thus making servicing of the engine very simple. The box also incorporates the steering, throttle and engine control panel and is styled so that the front section can be used as a seat or table therefore making the best use of all available space. The Ranger 17 is also fitted with a hardwood keel and bilge keels which means that the boat can be kept on a drying out mooring, making it particularly suitable for tidal moorings. füMMñf]ILL Over 25 years manufacturing quality British Boats and Components for the Marine Industry
