NORTH SAILS High-Performance Cruising Series North NLS Gatorback™ Cruising Series delivers a combination of light weight, low stretch and outstanding durability unmatched by any other cruising sail. NLS Gatorback is not only the sail of choice for larger cruising yachts and Super Yachts worldwide, but also numerous long distance recordholders including Commodore Explorer, Enza New Zealand, Primagaz and Mari Cha II. NLS Gatorback is an excellent choice for boats equipped with hydraulic or mechanical boom furling systems which often generate high "point loads" when sails are reefed. All feature stepped-radial panel construction and North's exclusive Teardrop™ patches. "We looked them over after 24,000 miles and with some minor touch-ups, we could have gone around again." RopeLuff is an alternative to other roller reefing options such as foam luff pads or AeroLuff. A RopeLuff works on the same principal as a foam luff pad, allowing the sail to furl around the headstay smoothly. A tapered bundle of ropes is placed inside a dacron sleeve and stitched to the sail behind the luff tape. RopeLuff is light weight, aesthetically pleasing, does not absorb water, and is mildew resistant. RopeLuff can also be sold as a separate sleeve that can be used with other sails, or removed entirely to transform your cruising sail to a racing sail. UV Protection. For a longer lasting sail, you should install some type of UV cover on the leech and foot of your roller furling genoa to prevent premature UV degradation on your furled sail - U.V. is terminal in the tropics. Specifications subject to change.
