Gradient Series™

Gradient Series™

Product catalog summary
Spinnaker Cloth Options
North TrueRadial spinnakers are available in polyester and nylon fabrics, each with distinct advantages. Polyester offers less stretch, especially when wet, but is less resistant to shock-loading compared to nylon. Nylon, while losing strength when wet, is preferable for rough water or offshore racing. Polyester tends to be more durable but less tear-resistant.

Design and Performance
North TRUE RADIAL™ spinnakers are renowned for their race-winning design. The new GRADIENT SERIES™ is noted for its speed and ease of use. North Sails uniquely molds spinnaker panels both horizontally and vertically, enhancing wind flow stability across a broad range.

Spinnaker Types
VMG Spinnaker: The smallest and lightest, ideal for light air and gybing downwind.
AP Runner: Suitable for windward/leeward racing, featuring a large head and shoulders for power and stability. Polyester is recommended for flat water, nylon for rough conditions.

Spinnaker Colors
Various cloth weights and colors are available, including NorLon™ and NorLon 250 in multiple shades. Options include .6oz Nylon, .5oz Contender SuperLite, and various polyester weights.

Gradient Series™ Development
Developed using a unique wind tunnel simulating wind speed and angle variations, a collaboration between North Sails, America’s Cup Team New Zealand, and the University of Auckland.
