staybond epoxy glue

Product catalog summary
Description: Staybond Epoxy Glue is a non-staining, high-strength, two-part epoxy adhesive suitable for gap filling. It is designed for waterproof structural applications in boatbuilding and laminating, and can bond materials like fibreglass, metals, concrete, ceramics, and glass.
Properties: At 20°C, the glue is a translucent cream with a non-staining, light amber finish. It has a coverage of 1m² per mixed litre at 1mm thickness, a pot life of 30 minutes at 50% relative humidity, and a full cure time of 7 days. The mixing ratio is 1:1 by volume, and it should not be thinned. The product is non-volatile and has a storage life of at least 5 years if sealed properly.
Preparation: For timber, remove contaminants and sand at 45 degrees to the grain. Use acetone or methylated spirits for cleaning. For oily timbers like teak, use NORGLASS Acetone and apply glue within 20 minutes. Other surfaces should be sandblasted or solvent cleaned.
Application: Mix equal volumes of base and hardener thoroughly until a creamy paste is achieved. Do not alter the mixing ratio or add extenders. Prewarm components in cold weather before mixing.
Precautions: Avoid gluing below 10°C. Ensure proper ventilation and avoid skin and eye contact. If adverse reactions occur, seek medical advice. The hardener deteriorates quickly if exposed to air.
First Aid: In case of poisoning, contact a doctor or Poisons Information Centre. Do not induce vomiting; provide milk or water.
Special Instructions: Cramping times should be at least 48 hours at 20°C. Avoid starving joints of glue by over-cramping. Complies with British Standards 1204 parts 1 & 2 for water and boil proof criteria.

Page 2 – Staybond Epoxy Glue PREPARATION TIMBER: OTHER SURFACES: Remove all forms of grease, oil, water or other contaminants. Sand timber at 45degrees to the grain. Vacuum off all sanding dust from the grain. This is essential for adhesion. Wipe over the surface to be glued with Acetone or Methylated spirits on a clean cloth and allow to dry. Oily timbers such as teak should be wiped down with NORGLASS ACETONE to remove surface oils, and be coated with STAYBOND EPOXY GLUE within 20 minutes. If left too long, more oil will rise to the surface of the timber reducing the overall adhesion. All other...
