Description: Northane Colours is a two-component, non-yellowing isopthalic polyurethane known for its excellent chemical and abrasion resistance. It maintains high gloss and fade resistance even under extreme weather conditions.
Uses: Suitable for aircraft exteriors, fiberglass boats, buses, earthmoving equipment, anti-graffiti applications, hospital walls and floors, furniture, fish ponds, and food surfaces. It is ideal for timber, steel, aluminum, and fiberglass as a durable waterproof finish coat.
Properties (at 20°C):
  • Colour: Available in white, black, clear, and 15 standard colors. Custom colors available on request.
  • Toxicity: Toxic; precautions must be followed.
  • Finish: High gloss; satin finish available for interior use with a flattening agent.
  • Coverage: Up to 12 sq. meters per mixed liter.
  • Drying Time: Touch dry in 1 hour, recoat after 16 hours, hard dry in 48 hours.
  • Recoating: Wet on wet spraying after tack-off; light sanding required if 48 hours elapse.
  • Pot Life: 4-8 hours, varies with color.
  • Mixing Ratio: 2 parts base to 1 part hardener by volume.
  • Thinning: Specific thinners for spraying and brushing.
  • Weight/Litre: Varies with color; white is 1.25 kg when mixed.
  • Volume Solids: Varies with color; white is 45%.
  • Flash Point: 32°C.
  • Clean Up: Use specified thinners.

Preparation: Ensure surfaces are sound and clean. Test old coatings with acetone. Clean and sand old Northane surfaces. Use primer for scratched surfaces. Remove waxes, polishes, and oils thoroughly.
Application: Mix base and hardener, add thinner, and strain. Apply after 11 am in winter only if protected from dew. Use wet on wet technique for spraying. Do not cut or buff the finished surface.
Transportation: Classified as a flammable liquid, Dangerous Goods Class 3.2.
Precautions: Ensure adequate ventilation, avoid inhaling fumes, and wear protective gear. Do not use if sensitive to isocyanates.
First Aid: Move to fresh air if inhaled, flush eyes with water, wash skin with soap, and seek medical advice if swallowed.
Special Instructions: Follow all recommendations. Allow 72 hours before immersion in water.

(Infinite colour range available by request) TOXICITY: Toxic – see Precautions. FINISH: Exceptionally high gloss. Also available in satin (for interior use only) by adding NORGLASS FLATTENING AGENT (see data sheet) COVERAGE: Up to 12sq.metres/mixed litre DRYING TIME: Touch dry 1 hour. Recoat after 16 hours. Where the previous coating is unknown, apply some Acetone on a rag to see if the old paint softens. If it does, remove the paint before continuing. Recoating old Northane surfaces requires cleaning with a commercial cream cleanser, wiping down with NORTHANE SPRAYING THINNERS or Methylated Spirits and lightly sanding to a flat finish.
