Vector - 1

Our Neil Pryde Sails VECTOR racing spinnakers are a culmination of years of design work in one-designs, sport boats and offshore racing classes. Incorporating the latest in software technology and cutting equipment has allowed us to create shapes that are optimized for the particular type of boat based on use and design. As such, the Vector spinnakers come in three primary designs each being carefully enhanced for the particular application. The all-purpose series spinnakers have been optimized for use in a variety of conditions. Our designers have been able to create shapes that demonstrate superb off the wind sailing characteristics while at the same time being able to sail well when pressed at tight angles. We achieve this through careful optimization of the vertical and horizontal cambers, which produces a head shape that is both stable and projects well at lower sailing angles. Many will find these sails to be the first and last spinnaker used in coastal and buoy racing. Running series spinnakers have been optimized for medium to heavy air running at low angles. We have been able to create shapes that have a true projection of area that exceeds our conventional Vector all purpose spinnakers, making them more effective in running. In moving the vertical shape focal point much higher into the head of the sail and tailoring the ellipticity to match the rig type, we achieve a wide open elliptical head profile that flies free and creates more power and less drag than comparable spinnakers on downwind legs. VMG series spinnakers have been optimized for use in light air VMG sailing when lack of pressure forces you to sail with the pole forward and much tighter angles. To acheive shapes that are optimized for light air downwind sailing these spinnakers carefully optimize the vertical and horizontal cambers, which produces a head shape that has a smaller overall head angle and a less elliptical crosssection than our AP series spinnakers. These designs produce a sail that tends not to collapse in on its self in light air reaching and maintains a fine cross-section profile that is not tight in the leeches. You can reap the rewards of our research and development regardless of type of boat or class.
