Product catalog summary
Overview of Full Battened Main Sails
The Full Battened Main sail offers numerous advantages over traditional mainsails. It provides a smooth airfoil that is easier to handle and more durable. The full-length battens help maintain the sail's shape in various wind conditions, enhancing performance and longevity by preventing sail flogging.
Design and Features
The sail design includes options for securing battens using Velcro® or tie-in systems, which allow for secure and adjustable batten tension with minimal wind resistance. These systems are reliable and user-friendly, simplifying the handling and fitting of battens.
Performance Benefits
Full-length battens enable the sail to maintain an efficient shape across a wide range of wind conditions and allow for additional sail area on the leech, improving performance in light winds. The integration of lazyjacks simplifies docking, even with a small crew.
Enhancements and Specifications
The sail features externally sewn luff rings for ease of use during reefing, adjustable tie batten enclosures, and strong double aluminum headboards with hand-sewn slides and webbing straps. The "C" type webbing enclosure offers low windage and strength, even under constant batten loading.

Neil Pryde Sails provides a two-year warranty on quality, service, and value. Their consultants are available to offer advice and information, and a global network of service lofts ensures support is available wherever you sail.

Full Battened Main-1

Full Battened Main The advantages of owning a Full Battened Main are many. The sail is very easy to handle, the battens stack neatly on the boom when the sail is being lowered, and performance is dramatically improved as the battens maintain the sail’s smooth aerofoil shape in both light and strong winds. Additionally, the longevity of the mainsail is improved because the full length battens prevent the sail flogging which is one of the worst enemies of all sail cloth. Proven Sail Design On a Full Battened Main there are various options for securing the battens in the batten pockets. Among these options are the Velcro® or tie-in securing systems that allow secure adjustment of the batten tension and are very clean, and with almost no windage. These features are totally reliable and easy to use, making handling and fitting the battens easier than ever before. Performance The addition of full length battens help the mainsail retain a more efficient shape over a much wider wind range. They also enable the sail to be built with additional area on the The full length battens create a smooth airfoil that is more easily handled and longer lasting than a traditional main. leech, thereby improving light air performance How to Make a Good Thing Better The Full Battened Main stows easily when sailing into your mooring, and the addi- tion of the lazyjacks makes docking even simpler, no matter how short you are on crew.
