PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Nautix STARLAC is 1-pack long-term gloss marine enamel for all substrates above the waterline. This finishing paint is very easy to apply and contains UV filter for increased durability. STARLAC is formulated according to the most up to date technology resulting in excellent flow characteristics. The selection of the best resins and pigments brings this exceptional brilliance and resistance. Its unique chemical structure enables STARLAC to outperform traditional finishes giving a long lasting high definition gloss. TYPE OF SURFACES • GRP / Composites • Steel (for more details, please refer to our technical specifications for “Steel boat") • Wood (for more details, please refer to our technical specifications for “Wood boat") SURFACE PREPARATION Over U2 or U3 undercoat • Surface must be degreased with Nautix SD and dust free. • Rough sand with 240 grit to favour adherence, Rinse and let dry. Over previously painted surfaces • Check the condition of substrate : the former paint must not come unstuck from the support or must not crumble. Scrape with a brush to check support quality and remove any loosing paint. • Substrate in good condition : - Wash with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water (high-pressure water blasting or with brush) and allow to dry. - Degrease the surface with Nautix SD. And then abrade with P240 grade paper. Rinse with fresh water and let dry. • Substrate in poor condition : - Remove all previous coatings. - Surface must be degreased with Nautix SD and dust free. - Rough sand with 120 grit to favour adherence. - Rinse with fresh water and let dry. - Apply 1 to 2 coats of U3 or U2 and let dry completely. - Rough sand with 240 grit, rinse and let dry. Technical recommendation Substrate must be cleaned and dried. Please refer to Nautix technical data sheets if you need any further information. It's recommended to work in dust-dree environment. To get the best result, we recommend applying a white undercoat like U3 or U2. The support should be sanded with 240 paper grit. Important: enamel application should be done fare away from dust. Strictly respect drying time before recovering. STARLAC is compatible will all materials (wood, plywood, GRP and steel). For more information, please check undercoat TDS. SAFETY INFORMATION • Work in well-ventilated area (ensure adequate ventilation during use), wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, glasses and eye/face protection. STARLAC 1-pack Premium high-durability marine gloss enamel Application methods : brush, roller, spray gun. Apply between 10 and 30°C (ideally inside with hygrometry rate no greater than 85%). Do not apply when there is a chance of condensation forming on the substrate (Dew-Point) : substrate, ambient air and product temperatures must be close. Homogenize the product with a blender.
