SCOURING ACID Aluminium and steel substrates preparation SCOURING ACID ACIDE DE dSrochace ACIDO DE DECAPADO AtzmitteI Nip PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Nautix SCOURING ACID is used for the preparation of metal substrates only when it is not possible to grind or sand it (recommended grade 36-40). It's particularly suitable to remove oxidation on aluminium surfaces. The application of this acid enhances the adhesion of anticorrosion paints. Finish Coverage Flash point Packaging Shelf life SAFETY INFORMATION • Work in a well-ventilated area, wear suitable protective clothing, gloves and eye/face protection. • Read carefully the label before application. Note : Aluminium surfaces are rapidly covered with a film of oxide (alumina) that protects naturally the metal against corrosion. This clear-coat is not suitable for paint adhesion. Thus, the surface must be prepared carefully, cleaned and sanded to promote adhesion of the primer. • Remove oxidation with metallic brush. • Ensure the substrate to be free of dust. • Wash with a suitable detergent, rinse with fresh water (high-pressure water blasting or with brush) and allow to dry. • Apply Nautix SCOURING ACID with a brush or a roller. • Wait for 20 minimum. • Rinse thoroughly with fresh water to remove gelatinous and sticky waste. • If necessary on aluminium, repeat this action until the oxidation to be completely removed. • Let dry • Apply as soon as possible a thin coat of ACRALU/METAPOX. • 1h later, apply 1st layer of protective primer (EPOXYGARD, HPE, PE or PA - refer to TDS). Transport and storage • This product should be kept in securely closed containers during transport and storage. • Exposure to air, sun, and extreme temperatures should be avoided.
