Adhesion and protection primer for propellers and Z-drive The printing process may render some of the colour samples imperfectly. We recommend testing the paint before committing to a colour. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION P7 spray primer is an anticorrosive paint especially formulated for specific underwater metal areas like propellers and Z-Drives. It can be applied over aluminium, stainless steel, bronze, and this will provide an excellent barrier to reduce pitting of the metal from galvanic corrosion. P7 improves the adhesion of A7T.Speed antifouling but also other paints on GRP surface, bare wood or metal. Easy to apply, the handy spray packing is particularly recommended to paint in difficult areas. PRODUCT INFORMATION Finish Coverage Flash point Unit size Typical shelf life Thinner/Cleaner Colours Matt 1.5m2/spray FP<21°C 300mL 5 years Nautix DP metallic grey Drying / Overcoating Information d=days h=hours min=minutes *Minimum overcoating time recommended for 1 layer (4C^m wet thickness) - Please refer to Application TYPE OF SURFACES • Metal : Aluminium, bronze, steel • GRP / Composites • Wood SURFACE PPREPARATION For protected propeller (new or already painted) • The surface should be degreased with Nautix SD and free of all contaminants (oil, grease, salt etc). • Rinse with fresh water and let dry. • Sand with P80 grade paper to improve adhesion. • Ensure the substrate to be dried, degreased, and free of dust. For non-protected propeller (damaged paint or without paint) • Remove the old antifouling and check the condition of old paint : this must not come unstuck from the support or must not crumble. Scrape with a brush to check support quality and remove any loosing paint. • Surface must be degreased with Nautix SD and dust free. • Rough sand with 40-80 grit to favour adherence over metal. • Ensure the substrate to be dried, degreased, and free of dust. SAFETY INFORMATION Technical recommendation To improve adhesion over aluminium or bronze surfaces, you can use METAPOX adhesion promoter or ACRALU adhesion primer. If you are looking for higher protection, use PA primer. If there is any doubt on compatibility with old paint, remove all existing layers. • Work in well-ventilated area (ensure adequate ventilation during use), wear suitable protective clothing, gloves, glasses and eye/face protection. Unprotected person must be kept away from treatment area. Dispose of protective gloves and equipment after use. • Read the label safety section for Health and Safety Information before application. P7 (SPRAY) Adhesion and protection primer for propellers and Z-drive Application methods : spray. Apply between 10 and 30°C (ideally inside with hygrometry rate no greater than 85%). Do not apply when there is a chance of condensation forming on the substrate (Dew-Point) : substrate, ambient air and product temperatures must be close. It’s not recommended to sand between coats. Favour natural solvent evaporation and do not heat ambient air after beginning of application. Do not use ventilator or heater directed on the surface.
