COOLBLACK 2-pack cool marine finishing paint with low heat absorption Coolblack is part of an innovative high performance Nautix paint system designed for yachting. It consists in a white 2-Component epoxy primer (U2) and a black 2-Component polyurethane coating (COOLBLACK). Thanks to its special pigment, heat absorption is reduced to 35% compared to normal black paint. Dark composite structures have improved long lasting protection, and don't suffer post-baking. Black yachts will also benefit from better insulation and a cooler atmosphere in the cabin, reducing the need for air conditioning. On race boats, crew will no longer be burned when climbing black carbon masts. Technical background: Normal black carbon pigments absorb infrared rays (IR) resulting in temperature increase of the substrate. Coolblack technology use IR transparent black pigments. Check undercoat TDS for more information. U2 undercoat application and preparation • Substrate must be prepared with U2 white epoxy undercoat. • Read Nautix U2 data sheet for more details. • Rough sand with 240 grit to favour adherence. Rinse and let dry. Coolblack • Specific application information are described on next point. • To be efficient, Coolblack dry film thickness must be around 30|am. Finish • For a super gloss or a mat finish and a better protection, we strongly recommend to overcoat with a VA2 Nautix varnish. Application advices Substrate must be painted with U2 white undercoat. The support should be sanded with P24C grade paper. Important: enamel application should be done far away from dust. Strictly respect drying time before recovering. Apply between 10 and 30°C (ideally inside with hygrometry rate no greater than 85%). Do not apply when there is a chance of condensation forming on the substrate (Dew-Point) : substrate, ambient air and product temperatures must be close. While opening the can, be careful with possible high pressure may cause gush of hardener. Stir or shake individual components thoroughly. Add hardener to the Base, stir and leave for 10 minutes to allow bubbles to disperse. Mix...
