Product catalog summary
Introduction
The FD-1200 and FD-1500 Folding Davit systems by Nautical Structures are designed for innovative tender-handling solutions, particularly in challenging environments such as luxury sailing yachts. These systems are constructed from aluminum alloy with composite bushings to prevent corrosion and are available with safe working load capacities ranging from 880 pounds (400 kg) to 6600 pounds (3000 kg). They can be customized to comply with MCA-LY2 Mega Yacht Code and IMO-LSA Rules for SOLAS.

Design and Features
The Folding Davit features a telescoping aluminum boom capable of handling full load capacity in any position. It includes a Hydraulic Linear Winch system that operates silently and safely, preventing cable damage. The crane offers 270º hydraulic power rotation and can be remotely operated via a wireless joystick. Various mounting options are available, including a bearing platter, pedestal base, or standpipe mount. The system is finished with a high-quality AwlGRIP urethane paint.

FD880-1800-EX-Folding Davit-2010-1

FD-1200 & FD-1500 FOLDING DAVIT FOLDING-DAVIT SYSTEM The folding davit system represents the innovation and thoughtful design that Nautical Structures brings to the challenge of creative tender-handling solutions. Initially developed for use on board a luxury sailing yacht, the folding davit’s requirement was to live in an enclosed space under a deck hatch. Potentially a very wet, humid and corrosive environment for any machinery. The Folding Davit is constructed from aluminum alloy, utilizing composite bushings to eliminate the reaction of dissimilar metals. Our current designs begin at safe working load capacities of 880-pounds / 400-Kg, and go beyond 6600-Pounds / 3000-Kg. Any of these cranes may be special-ordered built to MCA-LY2 Mega Yacht Code / Classification Society compliance and / or IMO-LSA Rules for SOLAS. This specification sheet describes our smaller cranes with lifting capacities of up to eighteen hundred pounds / 820-Kgs. The Folding Davit’s telescoping aluminum boom is capable of being loaded to its full safe working load capacity in any position without restriction. The intelligent engineering inherent in this design allows distributed load -deflection across the boom during moments of dynamic loading, reducing the amount of shock-loading transmitted to the deck. Virtually silent-operating, our Hydraulic Linear Winch system, a totally non-fouling winch design reflects the innovative and dependably safe operating characteristics built into the extending boom. This feature adds the additional element of operational safety as the winch travels with the boom during operation of the crane. This prevents any possibility of two-blocking the system causing damage to the cable. The crane features 270º hydraulic power rotation. The crane is remotely operated with a wireless joystick operated proportional control provided with an optional-use removable pendant. A bearing platter is the typical mounting structure for the Folding Davit, although a pedestal base or a standpipe mount may also be used in some applications. The Folding davit is powered by a hydraulic power unit, available in various horsepower configurations depending on the performance characteristics desired. The Folding Davit is finished to our highest standards. The aluminum structure is etched and then primed with a two-part epoxy primer. Then the system is faired, and then primed again. The davit is hand-sanded, and then moved into our heated finish booth where it is coated with a two-part AwlGRIP urethane spray-applied paint finish in a color of white to match your vessel. The davit system is assembled and then moved onto our dynamic loadtesting center where our quality assurance department load tests every davit we produce prior to delivery to the customer. 10351 72nd Street North • Largo, Florida 33777 • Phone: (727) 541-6664 Facsimile: (727) 541-6353 North America Toll Free: (888) 541-6664 Email: [email protected] www.nautical-structures.com
