
Salpa shipyard has been guided by the principles of passion and innovation for over thirty years, starting from the construction of its first boat. The focus has been on developing the best hull design to ensure excellent navigability in all sea conditions, stability at mooring, high performance, and reduced fuel consumption.
Advanced finite element structural calculation software was used to design a hull structure that is both lighter and stiffer than conventional designs. An innovative structural coupling system links the hull components. Extensive sea trials with prototypes equipped with scanners and strain gauges validated the structural calculations. Material selection involved rigorous chemical and mechanical testing of hundreds of samples to identify the best fiberglass fabrics, resins, and structural adhesives from top suppliers.
Computational fluid dynamics software optimized the resin flow during hull fabrication, ensuring proper fiber impregnation, correct catalysis ratios, and structural integrity. The hull, deck, and superstructures are produced using Salpa's proprietary "full-infusion" system. The manufacturing process emphasizes environmental sustainability through reduced weight and efficient production methods.
The Salpa 50.5 model was developed in collaboration with the Composite Materials Engineering Department of the University of Naples Federico II, applying aeronautical technologies extensively for the first time in recreational boating. The project achieved superior navigability, maneuverability, structural robustness, lighter weight, and lower fuel consumption.
The new Vitulazio (CE) shipyard employs highly automated production lines monitored by technicians. A robotic painting facility uses premium gelcoats and paints, offering a wide range of hull, deck, and superstructure colors including metallic, iridescent, and pastel finishes.
Specialized machinery cuts fiberglass fabrics with millimetric precision, orienting fibers along principal stress directions. High-volume resin dosing machines with PLC control ensure precise catalysis. Automated storage and CNC work centers enable high customization of interior furnishings using various wood species such as cherry, wenge, zebrano, teak, and oak.
Experienced technicians and skilled craftsmen perform final assembly onboard, following ISO 9001 certified quality procedures. This ensures that passion and innovation are embodied in the Salpa 50.5 flagship model.

The hull is painted with gelcoat. Exterior topside parts with colors different from the white gelcoat are optionally treated with two-component polyurethane paints. Antifouling coatings are optional and applied only upon request to ensure optimal efficiency.
Salpa does not supply complete safety equipment as boats are delivered internationally. Owners are responsible for equipping the vessel according to the safety regulations of their respective countries.
