Engine Overview: The
Diesel Engine 16V 1163 M74 is designed for fast marine vessels with high load factors, such as frigates, corvettes, patrol boats, fast ferries, and displacement yachts. It features a 16-cylinder configuration with a bore/stroke of 230/280 mm and a displacement of 186.1 liters. The engine delivers a rated power of 4800 kW (6437 bhp) at speeds between 1200 - 1250 rpm.
Dimensions and Weight: The engine measures 4547 x 1942 x 2925 mm and weighs 20560 kg.
Emission Standards: The engine is optimized to meet IMO II exhaust emission standards.
Standard Equipment: Key systems include an air-in cylinder starting system, a comprehensive oil system with double impeller pumps and a centrifugal filter, a mechanically driven fuel delivery pump with a Common-Rail injection system, and a cooling system with raw water cooled plate-core heat exchanger. The combustion air system features an on-engine air system with air filters, and the exhaust system includes two-stage MTU sequential turbocharging.
Power Transmission and Management: The engine uses a torsionally resilient steel spring coupling for power transmission. It is managed by an advanced engine control and monitoring system (ADEC) with local monitoring and control capabilities.
Fuel Consumption: At 100% power, the engine consumes 210 g/kWh or 1209 l/h, with an optimum value of 202 g/kWh.
Optional Equipment: Options include a compressed air tank for starting, an automatic oil level check system, a fuel oil treatment plant, and a remote control system (RCS).
Certification: The engine is certified by various international bodies including ABS, BV, CCS, DNV, and others.
Environmental Conditions: The engine's performance is defined under ISO 3046 conditions, with no power reduction at intake air temperatures of 45°C and sea water temperatures of 32°C.
