INNOVATIVE MULTIPURPOSE DECK CARGO VESSEL The multifunctional vessel is an ice classed open deck carrier intended for transporting in the Baltic Sea region demanding project cargo, such as offshore wind farm structures as well as containers and bulk cargo such as energy wood. The Aker Arctic DAS™ vessel is able to operate bow and stern ahead in ice conditions that reflect to Finnish-Swedish Ice Class 1 A notation. The vessel is equipped with diesel electric machinery with an electric propulsion consisting of two converter controlled electric motors each driving an azimuthing propulsion unit. The main diesel generators can be driven by marine diesel oils and liquid biofuels (LBF). In the fore ship, two electrically driven thruster units are mounted to provide safe manouvering in all conditions. The machinery and fuel systems are designed for minimized environmental impact due to low emissions. Dynamic position system (DP) and the azimuthing thruster propulsion provide safe transportation of all The design of the ballast tank arrangement takes into account possible year round work in oil recovery missions. Six ballast tanks with a total capacity of 2700 m3 can be used for storing of recovered oil. The deck cargo shall be fitted with container fixing pots of flush type for securing 80 units of 20 feet standard containers. Adequate local reinforcements shall be built in the maindeck structure for flush mounted container fixing pots, D-rings and other cargo lashing fittings.
