COMMAND AND RESPONSE PLATFORM The FireStorm 46/48 combines high speed response capabilities with command and control competencies. It is a scaled down version of the FireStorm 50 that maintains its control function and incorporates the FireStorm 40’s pumping arrangement that enables it to maintain manoeuvrability using both water-jets at its maximum pumping capacity. The cabin, cuddy and full head enable the crew to stay on station for extended periods. Equipped with an onboard generator, heating, ventilation and air conditioning, the vessel is a comfortable mobile command platform. The cabin includes a primary patient care berth with 2 secondary care berths in the cuddy. As with all FireStorm’s the electronics packages are created in collaboration with the customer to ensure the best navigation, communication and control systems are selected to meet mission requirements. When tted with two 1750 GPM rated reghting pumps the FireStorm 46/48 can produce ow meter results of 4,000 GPM at 150 PSI and 4,800 GPM at 60 PSI. A remote operated monitor mounted on the roof provides the primary reghting capability from a dedicated console within the cabin and a secondary monitor is mounted on the bow. Two 2.5” discharges and a 5” Storz outlet are tted on the aft deck. Twin diesel inboard engines matched to waterjet propulsion units can propel the boat to speeds of 38 knots and allow the boat to perform emergency stops and change direction within two boat lengths.
