MCN cone fender

MCN cone fender

MCN cone fender

Product catalog summary
Overview: Maritime International's MCN cone fenders are advanced fender systems offering high energy to reaction ratios, leading to efficient and cost-effective solutions. These fenders can be mounted in reverse, allowing installation in constrained spaces where traditional fenders may not fit.
Specifications:
  • Nominal Deflection: 70%
  • Buckling Deflection: 42.5%
  • Max Deflection: 72.5%
  • Durability: High to Medium-High
Design Considerations:
  • A stool must be mounted to the fender's nose to allow full deflection, requiring a height of at least 15% of the cone height.
  • Ensure all parts of the fender system are checked for contact with the supporting structure, especially under high angular berthings and vessel hull flare angles.
  • MCN fenders are not sensitive to energy loss from compression angles under 10°.
  • Compatibility issues may arise between different manufacturers' cone fenders.
  • Venting may be necessary to prevent water entrapment.
Performance Data:
  • Deflection and reaction characteristics are provided in detailed tables, showing performance metrics at various deflection percentages.
  • Performance curves illustrate the relationship between deflection, reaction, and energy absorption.
Model Dimensions: The document includes a comprehensive table of dimensions for various MCN models, ranging from MCN 300 to MCN 2000, with specifications in both metric and imperial units.

MCN cone fender-1

Maritime International’s MCN cone fender represents the most modern technology being offered in the fender industry today. MCN fenders have some of the highest energy to reaction ratios of any fender type leading to efficiencies in smaller frontal panels and lighter less costly fender systems. The cone can be mounted backwards with the small end anchored or bolted to the supporting structure allowing it to fit in areas where a more traditional cell fender cannot. Type: Buckling Cone Nominal Deflection: 70% Buckling Deflection: 42.5 % Max Deflection: 72.5% E to R ratio: High Durability: Medium to High Special Design Comments: • MCN cone fenders have a very high deflection capability that requires that a stool be mounted to the nose of the fender to allow the fender to fully deflect. This stool is required to be 15% of the cone height or greater. • The high deflection capability requires that all parts of the fender system be checked for contact with the supporting structure, especially under high angular berthings and also when high vessel hull flare angles are present. • The MCN cone fender is not sensitive to energy loss from compression angles under 10°. • Cone fenders are not universally compatible between manufacturers and caution should be used when purchasing cones for replacement of previously installed cone fenders. • Venting of fender interior may be necessary due to possible water entrapment if water levels rise above the bottom of the fender body.
